This study investigated the effects of cooperative learning and problem solving methods on academic achievement of basic education pupils in Home Economics in Owerri Municipal Council. Two research questions and three hypotheses were used. It was a quasi-experimental design. A 50-item Home Economics Achievement Test (HEAT) was administrated to 90 basic six pupils that made up the control and experimental groups. A purposive sampling technique was employed for the study. The instrument was validated and reliability coefficient of r=0.75 was obtained using test-retest method.
